When and Why did you first start CrossFit?

I started the On Ramp program in April 2015.  In 2010, I herniated a disc in my back and I had to do a lot of physio and yoga. However, when I moved to Mississauga, my routine changed and I became less active and my back started to hurt again. I ended up joining a typical gym to get back into a fitness program, but I was just so bored of doing the same cardio exercises.  I heard of CrossFit through my brother, so when I saw that there was a box down the street from where I worked, I decided to give it a shot

Why doing you keep doing it, what keeps you coming back?

I keep doing it because I can see progress. When I started, I couldn’t even do a 35 pound front squat because of my back pain. Since starting CrossFit, I have not had any back pain. I also love that the workout is different every day, it keeps me from getting bored.  I also really love the community. When I joined CrossFit, I was new to Mississauga and didn’t have any friends in the area. Without a doubt, my relationships that I have formed from CrossFit keep me coming back.

What advice do you have for those new to CrossFit?

Every workout can be modified to fit your needs, but don’t be afraid to challenge yourself.
Record your progress so that you can see your improvement over time.
