When did you start CrossFit?
June 2013

Why did you start CrossFit?
Like most people at the typical “Globo-gym” I only trained what I felt like on any given day. This led me to doing the same old movements’ day in and day out. I got into a routine of training only what I was good at which led me to very poor functional strength, terrible posture and diminishing motivation.

I needed to do something that would force me to tackle my weaknesses and fix my bad habits before they caused a debilitating injury.

What was your first WOD?
10,000 pounds – ground to overhead

What is your favourite movement (ie squat, clean, hspu, etc)?
Front Squat

Why do you STILL CrossFit?

  1. The never ending list of movements I want to improve upon.
  2. My ever improving strength, stamina, flexibility, posture, attitude and overall well-being.
  3. The incredible coaches and my fellow crossfitters. I wouldn’t have made the gains and improvements that I have without the support and motivation from each and every one of them.

Any advice to someone who wants to try CrossFit?
I contemplated joining CrossFit for at least a year before I walked in for the first time. Knowing what I know now, that was a year far too long.

I kept thinking to myself that I wasn’t “ready” for CrossFit, or that it was too advanced for me. What you will learn from the day you walk in is that CrossFit is not about advanced athletes, it’s about personal improvement and doing your best. You will soon realize you are fitter than you think and look forward to coming back in to tackle the next challenge.

Don’t make the same mistake I did. Start today.
