When did you start CrossFit and Why?
I started CrossFit in Stouffville in 2013. I was looking for an activity that would guide me through a workout as I was never committed to my gym membership at the local Stouffville gym. I heard and watched videos online about CrossFit and instantly became interested and joined. When I moved to Mississauga in 2015 was when I joined Full Metal, and this is when CrossFit really clicked for me.

What keeps you coming back?
A number of reasons!! Full Metal welcomed me with open arms regardless of what level I was or how much I could lift. At the time I joined FMCF coach Charly was the first coach I had during the 5 pm class. He greeted me each and every time I walked through the door, and would check in with me throughout the class. The coaching I experienced was excellent and the time spent on individuals like me who were new is unlike what I previously experienced. My previous experience was that coaches would spend more time watching/coaching experienced athletes and less time on the unexperienced; this is not like Full Metal! Since Charly has left the coaches continue to leave a positive impact on me and push me every day to be the best I can be. FMCF coaches want to see you succeed and will be there every step of the way whether it’s getting your first double under or chasing a new PR and will cheer you on in the process. Thank you coaches! At last, the friendships I have made at FMCF are a huge reason I keep coming back. I didn’t think I’d make any new friends moving to Mississauga however because of the CrossFit FMCF community I’ve met some amazing people who I can call my true friends J.

What advice do you have for those new to CrossFit?
If you’re thinking about trying it, do it.  And when you do, don’t be afraid to go out of your comfort zone. In fact, get used to being out of your comfort zone, pushing yourself to new limits and lifting weights that you couldn’t imagine before starting CF. Be patient, pace yourself and never give up… And don’t forget to have fun!
