Real People, Real Work

We are often asked what CrossFit is.  The easy answer is to point to the standard CrossFit definition and be done with it.  Our answer as to what CrossFit is comes from a different perspective, not only the definition.

CrossFit is about real people.  CrossFit is about doing real work.  That means working hard to reap reward.  It means doing things that may be difficult but that you’ll get better at over time with your effort and our hands on coaching.  CrossFit is about us working with you to deliver real results and genuinely caring about whether you make progress or not.  CrossFit is not about false promises of quick fixes.  There is no quick fix.  At Full Metal CrossFit, it is about hands on coaching, support, encouragement and recognition for trying hard, all while getting healthy and fit while having a good time.

CrossFit is about watching people grow.  It is watching someone go from not being able to pick themselves up off the ground to being able to move 95lbs or more from the ground over their head. CrossFit is about watching someone who has constantly struggled lose weight and to get in shape be welcomed into our community, work hard, eat right and get results.  CrossFit is about helping people transform physically and mentally; about transforming peoples’ attitudes, ability and confidence; about forging both fitness and friendships.

CrossFit is for everyone.  It doesn’t matter what videos you’ve seen on YouTube.  Those are rarely representative of your average CrossFitter.  It doesn’t matter what your age, gender or size is.   CrossFit doesn’t discriminate that way.  CrossFit is what can finally help you become healthier inside and out and introduce you to a new way of life.  CrossFit doesn’t require you to spend hours at a time in the gym.  CrossFit only requires you to try as hard as you possibly can any given time you come in and leave with a smile on your face because of what you accomplished in the time you were there.

Framed within our context, now read the definition of CrossFit from Greg Glassman

CrossFit is the principal strength and conditioning program for many police academies and tactical operations teams, military special operations units, champion martial artists, and hundreds of other elite and professional athletes worldwide.

Our program delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive. Our specialty is not specializing. Combat, survival, many sports, and life reward this kind of fitness and, on average, punish the specialist.

The CrossFit program is designed for universal scalability making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience. We’ve used our same routines for elderly individuals with heart disease and cage fighters one month out from televised bouts. We scale load and intensity; we don’t change programs.

The needs of Olympic athletes and our grandparents differ by degree not kind. Our terrorist hunters, skiers, mountain bike riders and housewives have found their best fitness from the same regimen.
